Instacart’s new ChatGPT-powered AI search tool provides customers with personalized recommendations in addition to information regarding food preparation, dietary concerns, and considerations, as well as product details in a bid to enhance the shopping experience.

The tool, which rolled out on Wednesday to customers in the United States and Canada can be prompted with simple queries such as “How do I make great fish tacos?” or “What’s a healthy lunch for my kids?” in the same way shoppers do in the search bar.

Intriguingly, the “Ask Instacart” search tool can suggest personalized query prompts to help customers find what they are looking for faster.

The search tool can remember every user’s shopping history which it then uses to remind shoppers of their needs while helping them explore new products.

“From decisions about budget and dietary specifications to cooking skills, personal preferences, and so much more, Ask Instacart can help customers answer all of their food questions and deliver the ingredients for the perfect meal in as fast as an hour,” JJ Zhuang, the chief architect at Instacart said in a statement.

Ask Instacart – Transforming Instacart Into A One-Stop Shop

Instacart AI-powered tool comprehends the intricacies surrounding food preparation from grocery shopping to the table. In addition to oodles of topics covered, “Ask Instacart” understands different dietary conditions, budget limitations and considerations, customer preferences, and cooking skills.

The AI shopping assistant does not slack in answering any shopping and food-related questions while providing a comprehensive guide to the ideal meal.

The introduction of “Ask Instacart” promises a paradigm shift in the way people shop. It gets rid of the need to search for recommendations, sometimes on other platforms, thus allowing Instacart to become a one-stop shop guiding customers with shopping through to food preparation.

Customers on Instacart can use “Ask Instacart” to connect with retailers and brand campaigns that showcase new and familiar products based on their queries. Instacart offers access to more than one billion items and over 80,000 retail partners.

Microsoft’s founder, Bill Gates, recently said that the era of search engines and e-commerce platforms like Amazon is coming to an end. Gates was speaking during the Goldman Sachs AI Forward 2023 event in San Francisco late last month when he said people will “never go to a search engine again” and that they “will never go to Amazon.”

Gates believes that the winner of the AI race would be the company, either a Big Tech or a startup, that creates the ultimate personal agent. This agent, according to Gates, will handle several tasks for people, freeing time for them to focus on more important things.

With the launch of “Ask Instacart” we can already comprehend the duties of a personal agent. In a related report, TechCrunch said that customers can express their dietary needs to the ChatGPT-powered search tool, which then recommends the products to shop for and suggests alternatives as well as recipes – covering the entire food preparation process.

A Highly Specialized ChatGPT Model

Instacart admits that artificial intelligence (AI) still has a long way to go and that the launch of “Ask Instacart” is a testament to the company’s willingness to embrace emerging technologies.

With that in mind, “Ask Instacart” is a highly specialized model that has been trained to understand customer needs, thus helping them to get the best of the app while saving time.

Instacart delivers precise and useful answers to customer questions by concentrating on the field of food and culinary knowledge.

The new AI-powered search tool comes a month after OpenAI launched different plugins for its premium customers on ChatGPT Plus, including Instacart.

ChatGPT’s debut late last year took the artificial intelligence industry to a whole new level, with other companies like Microsoft and Google moving fast to cash in the AI boom.

Microsoft continues to integrate AI into most of its products, while Google is currently testing an AI-powered search engine in addition to its own chatbot Bard.

As more companies embrace AI and integrate ChatGPT into their products, they are bound to make life easier for people globally. The introduction of “Ask Instacart” shows that businesses are ready to take advantage of the rising interest in AI-enabled tools.
