In 2005, college roommates Steve Huffman and Alexis Ohanian attended Paul Graham’s lecture and were invited to join his startup incubator – Y Combinator.

During a brainstorming session at the incubator, they dream up the “front page of the internet”.

  • 2005 – Reddit is founded on June 23, 2005, in Medford, Massachusetts with a $100,000 initial investment from Y Combinator. After a merger with Infogami, Aaron Swartz becomes Reddit’s third co-founder. Reddit’s website launches after Swartz rewrites the code.
