When you think of Celine Dion, “comedy” probably isn’t the first thing that pops into your head (and if “My Heart Will Go On” immediately started playing in your mind, I’m sorry about that). This week, the singer was on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and showed off her funny side when she and Jimmy Fallon took part in a game called “Wheel of Musical Impressions,” a well-loved part of the late-night show.
The premise is simple: Jimmy and the guest take turns spinning the wheel. It lands “randomly” on a musician’s name whom they must impersonate, and then a second wheel indicates the song they have to perform.
Celine went first and sang “Frère Jacques” in the style of Cher. She nailed it, even mixing the song with Cher’s 1999 hit, “Believe.” Next, Jimmy sang “One Dance” as Michael Jackson. For her next round, Celine sang “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” as Rihanna, which she turned into “Work.” Jimmy then performed Cookie Monster’s “C is For Cookie” (also for Celine, as she pointed out) in the style of Johnny Cash. Finally, Celine Dion finished the segment by singing “Hush Little Baby” as Sia, covering her face with a stuffed panda bear to mimic Sia’s long black and white bangs.
The segment is funny, especially in a way that you don’t necessarily expect from Celine Dion, which makes it all the better. Check out the full video below.
