President Donald Trump now has another cake controversy on his hands. In an interview with Maria Bartiromo of the Fox Business Network on Wednesday, the president discussed how he shared the details of his decision to launch a missile strike on Syria with Chinese President Xi Jinping over dessert.
The exchange is below, as the Washington Post reports:
Trump: I was sitting at the table. We had finished dinner. We’re now having dessert. And we had the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake that you’ve ever seen and President Xi was enjoying it.
And I was given the message from the generals that the ships are locked and loaded, what do you do? And we made a determination to do it, so the missiles were on the way. And I said, Mr. President, let me explain something to you. This was during dessert.
We’ve just fired 59 missiles, all of which hit, by the way, unbelievable, from, you know, hundreds of miles away, all of which hit, amazing.
BARTIROMO: Unmanned? Brilliant.
TRUMP: It’s so incredible. It’s brilliant. It’s genius.

Later in the interview, Trump mistakenly says that the missiles were fired at Iraq. Bartiromo corrects him as he continues recounting the details of the Mar-a-Lago trip.
Many on social media mocked Trump, given that he so clearly remembered “the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake,” but not the country. CNN reports that it was a chocolate cake with vanilla sauce and dark chocolate sorbet, a signature dessert at the resort.
He ended the interview by talking about how well he and the president of China get along.

Forgetting the country but remembering the chocolate cake is why it's best not to order airstrikes from a private golf club during dessert.

If a woman said that she had casually decided to have an abortion over a piece of chocolate cake, she'd be be burned alive in the street.
