Energy is a touchy subject in our society. Like most hot topics, it seems everyone has an opinion, qualified or not. One thing almost everyone can agree on, though? Our energy technology and infrastructure must change and grow to keep up with the growth in population and the advances in technology we experience every day. How we go about making those changes presents a major challenge.

It sounds cliché to say something like, “you could be the one to change the future,” but the fact is someone has to. Shell is hoping to motivate the growing generation of future researchers and innovators to do just that with its #makethefuture campaign. They know from experience that the talent needed to lead the way is in our schools right now, looking for motivation. In the video below, they issue a challenge: can you use your drive, your innate talent, and your learned knowledge to bring about the change we need to keep growing?

The future has a way of sneaking up on us, and the steps we take now will yield results, both short and long term. Can you affect those results? You think so. Shell thinks so. Now go prove it.
