Operating on the GG network, the site has a huge amount of traffic, even more than some other big international networks like Party Poker. This traffic allows it to run some big tournaments, including daily guarantees, with $8,00,000 in prizes guaranteed every week. There are also hourly freerolls of Hold’em, Omaha, and Short Deck. Betonline runs on the Chico poker network, which sees plenty of traffic from the USA and other countries. You can start playing a sit-and-go tournament in no time at all, and there’s always a diverse selection of cash games running. - High traffic
- Mystery bounty tournaments
- Jackpot sit & go tournaments
- Tournaments with up to $150,000 guaranteed prize pool

4. Everygame – Get Weekly 36% Rakeback
For close to 30 years, Everygame (formerly Intertops) has been a major presence in the online gambling world. They have an online sportsbook, casino, and, of course, a poker room. The poker client can be downloaded onto any Windows computer or played directly from your browser on Macs and phones or if you simply want to save some storage space.
Sit-and-go fans will be more than satisfied with Everygame’s offering. In addition to lots of standard S&G tournaments, there are special heads-up, bounty, jackpot, and Sunday special satellite S&Gs. Talking of Sundays, one of the major MTTs at Everygame is the Sunday Myriad tournament with a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool. The one small negative is that it’s mostly recreational players on the site, so if you want stake cash games or sit & gos there’s usually a bit of a wait.
In terms of value for money, there’s nothing to complain about at Everygame. The site’s got one of the highest rakeback offers in the industry, set at 36%. What’s more, there’s a hefty signup bonus worth up to $1,000. There’s also a lucrative loyalty program with rewards ranging from cash to free entry into tournaments. Juicystakes poker games are played on the Horizon Poker Network, which attracts a lot of traffic from the USA and other countries. One of the most exciting poker game modes here is the jackpot sit-and-go tournaments. Buyins for these range from $0.25 to $10. Before the tournaments start, the prize pool is randomised, with the maximum winning being 1,000x your stake, so for the highest buy-in of $10, you can win a massive $10,000. Multi-table tournament fans are also catered for with hundreds of daily tournaments with buy-ins starting from just a few pennies.

How to Select the Best Sites for Online Poker
There’s a lot to consider when trying to evaluate a good poker site. While the factors below aren’t the only things we examine when selecting the best sites, they are the five most important criteria and play a big role in our rankings.
- Rake: All online poker sites in Hong Kong charge a commission for playing, called the rake, as this is how they make their money. When selecting the best sites, we look for sites with reasonable rake rates of 4% and 8% for most game modes and also set a low maximum rake they can take from cash games.
- Tournaments: Tournaments are one of the most exciting forms of poker and offer amazing value, as you can win hundreds to thousands of times your stake. The best sites have a variety of tournaments every day and provide some big guaranteed money MTTs.
- Freerolls: Freerolls are some of the most sought-after poker games online because you can win money without risking any of your own cash. You want to use a site that provides lots of freeroll tournaments with some decent prizes for winning,
- Poker traffic: A poker site without a decent amount of traffic is not worth your time, as you may be waiting a long time for sit & go tournaments, and you may be unable to find cash games with the stakes you want.
- Bonuses & Promotions: Top sites not only offer new users a nice bonus but also continue to reward loyal customers. Deposit matches, loyalty program, reloads and no deposit bonuses are things we look out for at poker websites.
Is it Legal to Play Poker Online in HK?
According to the Cap 148 Gambling Ordinance, all forms of gambling are illegal in Hong Kong except those authorised by the government. Those permitted under the law include Horse racing, football bets, and lottery, as long as they are conducted at approved organisations.
Poker is missing from this list, which is why there are no Hong Kong-based poker sites. However, many offshore-based poker rooms accept players from HK. These offshore sites hold legitimate gaming licenses, and as they are not operating in Hong Kong are technically not breaking any local laws, and the government has made no real attempt to block these sites.
Why Poker Traffic Matters
Traffic is one of the most important things to consider when deciding what online poker sites in Hong Kong to play at. This is because the term traffic refers to the number of players visiting and using the site.
You want a site with high traffic because the more people playing, the wider the variety of games available. When there’s a limited number of players, it’s more likely you will not be able to find a game with suitable buy-ins/stakes. Sit-and-go tournaments will also have longer waiting times, and big MTTs will have lower prize pools as fewer people register.
Types of Popular Tournaments to Look Forward to Online
Whatever your skill level or budget, you’ll find a variety of tournaments to enjoy at the top online poker sites in Hong Kong. We run through some in this section.
Sit & go
Sit & go tournaments have no set start time but begin as soon as the required number of players register. The size of sit-and-go tournaments varies greatly. You can get heads-up sit & go games with just two players or large tournaments with hundreds. However, single tables with 6-9 players are the most common tournament sizes.
When the tournament begins, each player starts with the same number of chips, usually between 1 and 2 thousand. The game continues until only one player remains. These are some of the most popular tournaments, as a standard 6-player tournament takes just 30-60 minutes and can be even faster if it is a speed, hyper, or turbo format, where starting stacks are lower and/or blinds go up quickly.
MTT
MTT stands for multi-table tournament. It gets its name because the tournaments are played across multiple tables. The number of players varies, but there are usually a few hundred. Unline sit-and-go games MTTs don’t have a set number of players but rather a start time. When the tournament begins, all players start with the same number of chips, and blinds will rise at set intervals.
The prize pool for these tournaments usually depends on the number of players that register. However, some tournaments have a guaranteed prize pool. Typically, the top 10% of the field will be paid, so if there are 200 players, you will win something if you finish in the top 20.
Cash Games
One of the main differences between tournaments and cash games is that your chips have real monetary value. Another difference is that in cash games, the blind levels are set and never rise, unlike in tournaments, where blind levels almost always rise at set intervals.
In addition, you can take a seat at a cash game at any time and leave whenever you want, so you could play just one hand and leave if you wanted. This makes it ideal for people who want flexibility, as tournaments may go on for hours.
Freerolls
Freerolls are tournaments that you can enter and play for free. Despite being free, there are still prizes with monetary value up for grabs. The prizes may be actual cash, loyalty points for VIP programs, or free entry into MTTs with a cash prize pool.
Satellites
Satellites are usually MTTs or S&Gs, and the prize is entry into a higher buy-in tournament. For example, you may enter a 20-person satellite for a buy-in of $10 if you win, you will get free entry into a $200 buy-in tournament.
Progressive Knockout
A knockout tournament rewards you with a cash bounty when you knock out another player. A progressive knockout tournament is the same with a small twist. When you knock a player out, you win a percentage of their cash bounty (usually 50%), and the other amount is then added to your bounty.
For example, if players’ bounties are set at $4, and you knock out a player, you will win $2, and your bounty will have $2 added to it, so now your bounty is $6. The more players you knock out, the higher your bounty becomes and the more of a target you will become.

Poker Rake & Rakeback Explained
These two terms may sound like they are the same thing, but while they are connected, there is a big difference. When you play poker online, you want to look for low rake and high rakeback, and you’ll see why as we explain the two terms below.
Rake is the fee sites charge for playing. It is usually set between 4% and 10%. In cash games, this rake is taken out of the pot for every hand. For tournaments, the rake is collected when you pay the entrance fee.
Rakeback, on the other hand, is a type of promotion many online poker sites in Hong Kong offer. Rakeback is a percentage of the rake you have paid over a given time returned to you. Let’s say you’ve paid $50 in rake over a week, and a site offers 36% rakeback. You will have $18 returned to your account (36% of $50).
The Best Poker Bonuses Available Online
The best online poker sites offer new and existing players a wide selection of lucrative bonuses and ways to boost their bankrolls. Below, we highlight some of the most popular and common poker bonuses.
- Welcome Bonus: These are one-time bonuses offered to new players when they first sign up at an online poker for real money site. They are generally matched deposit bonuses, where a site matches a certain percentage, usually 50-200%, of your first deposit.
- Reloads: Reloads are like most welcome bonuses in the fact they match a percentage of your deposit. However, these are ongoing promotions available to existing players on deposits they make. The percentage is generally not as high as welcome bonuses, usually in the region of 10-20%.
- Rakeback: As previously mentioned, rake is the commission a site charges for playing poker with them. Many sites offer rakeback promotions that return a percentage of the rake players have paid over a set time period.
- VIP programs: Lots of poker sites nowadays offer VIP or loyalty programs. These programs work similarly across all sites in that you earn points for every tournament or hand you play or the rake you have paid. You get certain rewards for getting a set amount of points. You also move up levels the more points you acquire; the higher your level, the better the rewards.
- No deposit bonuses – Most offers at online poker sites or any gambling website are granted when users make a deposit. No-deposit bonuses, though, are granted to players without depositing a single dime. They are fairly rare and offered to new customers to let them try the site for free or as a special reward to existing customers, usually for those that frequently play and have paid a lot of rake.
Site | Poker Bonus | Wagering Requirement | Min. Deposit | Qualifying Payment Methods |
Coinpoker | 1,100 USDT + 33% rakeback | 2 x playthrough | $20 | Crypto |
Natural8 | 200% up to $1,000 | $1 released for every $5 in rake paid | $10 | Crypto, eWallets and credit cards |

Our Top 5 Expert Tips for Playing Poker Online
Poker is predominantly a game of skill, and perfecting your game takes time, experience, and patience. Here are our top five pro poker tips to help you perfect your game when playing at online casinos in Hong Kong.
Know your Position
In poker, position is key. When you are under the gun (the first player to act) or in an early position (the first 1-3 players to act), you have no information on your opponents, and you can face raises. This is why it’s advisable to be more cautious and only to play strong hands when you are in an early position. If you are in a late position (the last 1-2 players to act), you have seen how others have acted and can adjust how aggressively you play your hand.Learn to Bluff
The only way to bluff online is with your betting. One key component of online poker bluffing is the C-bet (continuation bet). This is where you make a bet preflop and then are the first to make a bet preflop. By making a C-bet, you have the initiative and signify you have a strong hand, which makes people more likely to fold. However, you shouldn’t be making C-bets every time you raise preflop as this makes you predictable and easy to read. It’s also important to remember the more people left in the hand, the riskier it becomes.Defend your Blind
In the past, standard practice was to fold most of your blinds. However, nowadays, most pros advise protecting your big blinds. When you are the big blind, there are “blind robbers” players who will throw in a raise to try and steal the blinds. This is often done by players in the late positions. Defending your blind means calling or even raising when a player has raised while you are in the big blind position. While you shouldn’t always call when you are the big blind, it is sometimes worth playing hands you would have folded if you weren’t already invested. It’s also important to consider the number of people left in the hand. The more players still in the hand, the better the pot odds. However, it also means there are likely some strong hands out there.Don’t Limp in
A limp in pre-flop refers to when you just call the big blind, and you should avoid being the first to limp in pre-flop. This is because you stand no chance of winning the hand preflop and it signifies a weak hand. In addition, limping in improves the pot odds for players to act after you, which means it’s more tempting for them to play the hand and thus reduce your odds of winning.Use Poker Software
Not all online poker Hong Kong platforms allow poker software and make sure to check if a site permits it and exactly what kind as you can get banned. If they do, some of them are well worth using. A HUD (heads-up display) is software that is allowed at many sites. HUDs show statistics about how your opponents played in the past. You can see the percentage of pre-flop raises and what kind of hand they raised with. This information lets you make better-informed decisions on when to call, raise or fold.
Different Types of Poker Variants Available at the Best Casinos in HK
There are dozens of poker game variants out there, some similar while others completely different. In this section, we look at the most popular poker games found at the best poker sites online.
Texas Hold’em
Texas Hold’em online is, without a doubt, the most played and well-known variation of poker and the ideal game to start with if you’re new to online poker. The game has four stages, which are:
- Preflop: Players are dealt two face-down cards known as hole cards. The player left of the dealer posts the small blind, and the next player to the left of them posts the big blind.
- Flop: Three community cards are dealt face-up
- Turn: One community card is dealt face-up
- River: One final community card is dealt face-up
There’s a round of betting at each stage. Players can check, call, or raise. If at least two players remain in the hand after the final round of betting after the river, players show their cards and the winner is whoever has the best five-card hand made up of any combination of the five community cards and their two hole cards.
Omaha
Omaha or Omaha Hi is a similar game to Hold’em. It also has four stages, preflop, flop, turn and river, with a round of betting at each stage and if at least two players are left hands are revealed and the best five-card hand wins.
However, there are two big differences. The first is that players are dealt four hole cards instead of two. The other is that players’ hands must consist of exactly two of their hole cards and three of the community cards.
Omaha Hi/Lo
Omaha hi/lo is played in the exact same way as regular Omaha, but there’s one big twist. In hi/lo the pot is split between the player with the best high hand and the player with the lowest value hand.
For a low hand to qualify, all five of the cards used in the hand must be eight or lower. It’s possible for one player to win both pots (known as scooping) by having the best low and high hand or there being no qualifying low hands. You don’t need to use the same two community cards for your high and low hand.
No Limit
This is not a type of poker game but rather betting rules within a game. No-limit poker games mean there is no maximum cap on how much you can be or raise, but there are still minimum amounts.
No-limit games are often more exciting than limit games, as you can lose all your chips at any moment. It’s also easier to bluff in no-limit games and employ a much more aggressive poker strategy than in-limit games.
Limit Poker
Limit games also refer to the betting rules of a poker game. There are two types of limit poker games: limit and pot limit.
In full-limit games, there’s a maximum limit on how much players can bet or raise. There’s also a limit on how many raises can be made in each stage; typically, only three raises can be made in each round of betting.
Pot limit games are the middle ground between limit and no-limit games. In these games, players are only able to raise the size of the current pot. Unlike limit games, there is no limit on how many raises can be made each round.
Limit and pot-limit games tend to be a bit less stressful than no-limit games, as it’s less likely to have your full stack diminished in a couple of hands. However, it is hard to be an aggressive player in these games, particularly in full-limit games.
Comparing Ring-Fenced Poker to Shared Player Pool
You may have come across the terms ring-fenced and shared player pool when playing online poker but not sure what it means. We explain exactly what these mean and what advantages and disadvantages each one presents.
Ring-Fenced
Some countries or regions ring-fence their online poker games. This means that players can only play against people from within the same country or specified area. Countries like Canada, Portugal and Spain have ring-fenced poker, and while many players are against limiting the player pool, there are others who see the benefits. We look at some of the pros and cons below:
Pros
- Sites may offer exclusive bonuses
- Less sharks and a more even playing field
- Taxes collected from poker are reinvested into your area
- Seats to MTTs limited number of player tournaments is easier
Cons
- Casinos may increase rake due to fewer users
- Lower traffic means longer waiting times for games
Shared Player Pool
A player pool means that there is one pool, and all players can play against each other regardless of where they are in the world. Next, we’ll take a look at a few pros and cons that come with a shared player pool.
Pros
- Reduced waiting times
- Bigger prize pools for MTTs
- MTTs have higher prize pools
- A more diverse selection of cash games and tournaments
Cons
- Higher variance in skill level
- More poker sharks

Credit cards are still the preferred method for many people and most sites are still happy to support them. However, many sites do not allow you to withdraw with this method and it’s quite common to see fees for using bank cards when depositing funds.
e-Wallets
E-wallets are not seen as modern payment methods anymore as they’ve been around for a few decades, however, many players still prefer to use these methods which is why most sites usually accept at least one e-wallet such as Neosurf or Skrill. E-wallets provide increased security for online payments and generally faster cashouts.
