A Closer Look at Sport NFT Drops
On this site we’ve reviewed many of the best NFTs to buy and below we’ll take a deep dive on sporting NFT collections that could also be a good investment as well as fun collectibles for sports fans.
Given the recent NFT bull market that saw blue chip NFT collections like the Bored Ape Yacht Club, CryptoPunks, Doodles and others hit new all time high floor prices, alongside crypto investor Elon Musk take over Twitter, the valuations of some of these NFT sports collectibles could also pump.
1. Silks
Thoroughbred horse racing is a widely popular sports game with millions of fans across the globe. More than $11B is wagered on the outcomes of thoroughbred races annually within the USA. The industry is so big that it fares well in any sort of market conditions, including recessions!
Silks brings real-world thoroughbred horse racing to the metaverse with an innovative skill-based fantasy game. It introduces derivative NFTs called Silks Horses that track data related to the bloodlines, training progress, and racing results of the underlying thoroughbreds. The derivative NFTs earn rewards every time the real-world horse wins races or breeds offspring.
But there is more, of course. Silks mirrors the real-world thoroughbred horse racing economy, which opens up diverse means of monetization in the metaverse. Silks is on a mission to build a self-sustaining metaverse with a collective purpose, aligned incentives, and a uniquely rewarding ownership experience.
The vibrant play-to-earn mechanism on Silks revolves around Silks Horse, Stable, Land, and Silks Avatar NFTs. For example, you need a Silks Avatar to mint a Silks Horse and earn tokens through gameplay. They represent your unique identity in the Silks metaverse. They also come with other benefits like airdrops, IRL rewards, and genesis holder status.
The team behind Silks consists of individuals with extensive experience in the horse racing industry. Troy Levy, one of the co-founders, is the owner of Circle 8 Farms and is also the CEO of Tropical Racing, a company that focuses on thoroughbred horse breeding and racing. Both of these companies have strategic and financial partnerships with Silks.
The Genesis Silks Avatar mint went live in late April 2022 to great reception. The NFTs were bought up by top investment firms and top NFT communities, such as holders of the Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs. The Genesis Silks Avatars even managed to become the number one ranked Sports NFT on OpenSea and was a Top 50 ranked NFT by Nansen.ai.
In response to the incredible demand, Silks decided to release another 5,000 Silks Avatars to the public. This was an extra special mint as every Avatar purchased automatically received a claim for Silks Land if they held their Avatar for 45 Days.
In total, the Silks Avatar collection consists of 10,000 NFTs – 6,500 of which have been sold. You can still get your hands on the Silks Avatars for 0.25 ETH. However, once they are all sold, your only option to buy will be through NFT holders on secondary markets, such as OpenSea.
As mentioned, you need one of the Silks Avatars to participate in the ecosystem. The Avatars allow you to mint the Silks Horses and receive rewards if they win in their real-world races. The Avatars also provide access to the metaverse and allow holders to gain access to exclusive experiences, giveaways, and in-person events.
The exciting features and diverse reward schemes make Silks one of the best sports collectibles of this year. According to the Silks white paper, Silks will open more monetization streams as the platform incorporates new features and expands to international thoroughbred horse racing. Another interesting factor that sets apart the NFT project is its lower barrier to entry. Silks introduces a concept called Horse Syndication that allows you to own fractionalized Silks Horse NFTs by joining Horse Ownership Pools. This is also a great way to diversify or offset the risks attached to racehorse ownership.

2. Tamadoge
One of the new coins in the doge ecosystem that’s making airwaves is Tamadoge. This play-to-earn game is based in the Tamaverse and requires players to look after their pets. Players who have fed their digital pets best and ensured their upbringing will be ranked high on the leaderboard and receive TAMA, the platform’s native token.
This crypto game is rapidly expanding, and its creators are soon integrating it into Metaverse. Players can use their AR headsets to walk their dogs to exercise them, thereby being rewarded for developing their pets. But it’s also investors who may potentially be rewarded.
TAMA is currently on presale, so its price is heavily discounted. And it’s got tremendous upside potential. Not only is Tamadoge going to be available in an app and Tamadoge Arcade’s debut is soon, but TAMA will be listed on centralized exchanges. On top of that, the creators are planning to sell 50% of the total 2 billion supply just during the presale. If that’s not going to make the coin scarce, then the 5% burning of all TAMA coins spent definitely will.
While TAMA is a deflationary coin, Dogecoin has expanded its coin supply from 100 billion to 132 billion. Scarce assets are high in demand, so it’s best that investors act now. It’s possible to buy Tamadoge with a credit card and USDT via Transak.
Min Investment | 1,000 TAMA (∼$10 + gas fee) |
Max Investment | N/A |
Purchase Methods | ETH, USDT, Debit / Credit Card (via Transak) |
Chain | Ethereum |
Beta Sale Ends | 2nd September 2022 |

Via battleinfinity.io
Players will be able to pick and manage a strategic team to compete against other players’ teams internationally – in a daily fantasy sports style game, taking place in the metaverse with a P2E gaming format. That gives it wide investor and gamer appeal so this upcoming crypto project could be one to watch.
The IBAT token earned as a form of rewards for playing, will also be able to be exchanged for any other currency on the platform’s own decentralized exchange (DEX), Battle Swap.
The latest DappRadar industry report found that crypto assets and NFTs related to blockchain games performed better during the 2022 bear market.
Similarly a US study found that sports fans are more likely to have invested in or be planning to invest in crypto assets – so this particular project combines some of the strongest markets, sports fans, blockchain gaming, cryptocurrency and non-fungible tokens.

‘I was excited to learn about their business and the new, transparent and fair approach that they bring to prize draws and giveaway competitions using crypto. It opens up a chance for me to use my fighting talents to introduce boxing fans to crypto and the benefits it has to offer. They tell me they are going to move into play-to-earn games too, and I’m down for that as someone who enjoys games of chance and video games.’

The owners of these NFTs can come together for VIP meetups, parties and events, or to discuss the future of the project with its developers. This kind of exclusive community increases the value of NFT projects.
Fanzone Sports Club offers that to international football fans (soccer). It doesn’t involve NFT art but instead NFT passes that grant you access to the activities carried out by the team on and off the pitch. Similar to lifetime season passes for football games, with extra perks.
The passes come in three types – Gold, Black, and Diamond. All three passes provide give presale access to the holders whenever an NFT drop from the team is scheduled, 10% referral bonuses, private meetups, and a chance to meet football idols and other famous sports personalities on stadium tours.

Why Buy Sports NFTs?
The importance and potential of non-fungible tokens are beginning to be acknowledged by major corporations such as Visa, Adidas, and even world governments.
The NFT bull run of the past few months – outperforming crypto, stocks and many other financial markets – has proven that these digital assets are here to stay and possibly reshape several industries as we see them today. NFT technology as an industry has been valued at $100 billion in 2022.
While NFTs come in the form of art, music, and many other formats, NFT sports collectibles are potentially another avenue for investing in NFTs as sports fans are known to be avid collectors of memorabilia, whether its vintage sports merchandise, or autographs from famous athletes.
Recent NFT applications in the sports world have included:
- The Australian Cricket Association announcing an NFT drop
- The Golden State Warriors basketball team releasing two NFT drops
- The NBA filing NFT trademarks
- The NBA launching an NFT drop
The Golden State Warriors hold the record for the most expensive sport NFT which was a world championship ring token bought for 285 ETH, which is over $870,000 in dollar terms.

Conclusion
NFT sport collectibles have shown success so far, for example Sorare NFT fantasy football cards recently broke into the top 100 NFTs by market cap. We reviewed the Fanzone Sports Club NFT project which could follow in its footsteps.
We also covered the recent move to earn craze and the governance token of the STEPN app which is used by runners and joggers, GMT. It has been one of the best performing coins of 2022 and a STEPN sneaker NFT is required to use the app.
The majority of sports NFTs are still undervalued so our top 10 sport NFT drops above may represent a good investment opportunity for those who missed the boat on Bored Apes and Punks. Sports NFT projects have a lower floor price – buying a sport NFT token can cost as little as $10 – $100.
NFT collections brand new in 2022 like Lucky Block also could potentially increase in value – the LBLOCK token launched by the same project went on a 65x bull run in Q1 2022. Like most NFT collections owning one comes with additional perks, although Lucky Block offer more benefits than most – including the chances to win jackpot prizes in the six and seven figures.
NFT related cryptos currently on presale like Tamadoge also have some of the highest upside potential – investing early at presale tends to outperform investing in the middle of an asset’s bull cycle.
However, if you are looking for the best Sport NFT drop out there, our suggestion is Silks. The skill-based fantasy game brings the thrill of thoroughbred horse racing to the metaverse, opening up diverse streams of returns to gaming enthusiasts. The Inaugural Silks Horse Collection will be up for grabs soon. Mint your Avatar on Silks and claim your spot in the Horse Mint.
