Former American National Football League (NFL) star Marshawn Lynch has filed a trademark application to launch and protect his brand name Beast Mode. The NFL legend has also shown interest in using his brand to offer NFT-authenticated assets.
In a January 25 blog post, Mike Kondoudis, the approved intellectual property attorney, confirmed that Marshawn Lynch filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark related to NFTs on January 20.

Marshawn Lynch Enters The NFT Space
Born in 1986, Marshawn Lynch is an iconic NFL running back player who played in the NFL for 12 seasons. Lynch spent most of his career playing for the National Football League team Seattle Seahawks.
According to the data submitted, Lynch anticipates securing his brand name, “Beast Mode,” and using it to offer digital assets. The NFL legend got the “Beast Mode” nickname from fans due to his persistent pattern of running over defenders.
In addition, Marshawn Lynch intends to start offering downloadable virtual assets, including non-fungible tokens (NFTs), blockchain-based NFTs, a series of NFT collectibles, and digital collectibles.
Other Sports Celebrities In The NFT Space
Marshawn Lynch joins a rapidly growing list of notable sports personalities who have also filed NFT-focused trademark applications in the past several months. Steph Curry, an American basketball star, filed a trademark for the term “Curryverse” last year.
In May 2022, Kevin Durant, the professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Net, filed 26 trademark applications with the United States Patents and Trademark Office to launch the NFT marketplace and NFTs.
In November 2022, the Olympic gold medalist and United States basketball legend Scottie Pippen turned his image as an NFT on the Artbitrum network. Mr Pippen is a former NBA star who won six NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s.
Other sports stars in the NFT sector include Sergio Aguero, Lionel Messi, Mike Tyson, and Cristiano Ronaldo, who recently partnered with crypto exchange Binance to launch a new NFT collection.
