Magic Eden has announced plans to expand support for Polygon non-fungible tokens in its effort to make a mark on the NFT gaming space. Magic Eden is currently the leading marketplace for Solana-powered digital collectibles.
Magic Eden Adds Support For Polygon NFTs
In a November 22 press release, Zhuoxun Yin, the co-founder of Magic Eden, confirmed ready plans to support NFT assets minted on Polygon, an Ethereum sidechain scaling protocol.
Launched in 2021, Magic Eden is an NFT market platform that has rapidly risen and become dominant in the NFT space. In August, the NFT marketplace announced support for Ethereum-backed digital assets.
According to Yin, Magic Eden has picked Polygon due to several capabilities, such as its rapidly growing adoption from other major Web2 brands and potential for large-scale gaming via its metaverse platform.
Moreover, Polygon enables significantly faster and cheaper transactions than Ethereum’s mainnet, making it an ideal option for projects requiring relatively large amounts of digital assets.
Magic Eden Eyes NFT Gaming
Polygon has quickly become the platform of choice for large-scale Web2 brands looking to step into the Web3 world. In the same spirit, Magic Eden anticipates using Polygon capabilities to begin offering a gaming experience.
Metaverse games like Decentraland and The Sandbox are recent perfect examples integrating Polygon for some NFT assets. The marketplace plans to integrate Polygon assets in gaming from next year. Yin further explained:
“We expect high-quality Polygon games to come online in the next year, and are excited to bring those to market in a way that no marketplace has before.”
“We’re still in the beginning stages of mass adoption for blockchain games, and we’re excited to partner with Polygon to bring an exciting new wave of Web3 games to market.”
Before summarizing, Yin has revealed that several game developers have already shown interest in launching their projects in the Magic Eden. Some include BORA, Intella X, nWay, Block Games, Boomland, and Planet Mojo.
