The latest reports confirm that Spanish professional football club “Atlético de Madrid” has successfully partnered with crypto exchange platform “WhaleFin” to launch its first tokenized collection of football boots on the STEPN mobile application.

In an August 19 press release, Atletico Madrid confirmed the successful partnership with WhaleFin to launch a collection of 1,001 football boots in non-fungible token format exclusively on the STEPN mobile application.

The initiative is part of the collaboration between Atlético de Madrid and WhaleFin, Amber Group’s reference platform, major sponsor, and Official Digital Wealth and Lifestyle Partner of the club.

Launched in December 2021, STEPN is a lifestyle move-to-earn mobile application allowing users to walk, jog or run to earn digital assets. STEPN mobile app will be equipped with shoes in NFT format to reward users based on their daily walks on the mobile fitness app.

Atlético de Madrid NFTs Overview

Atletico Madrid will create a limited edition of 1,001 football boots divided into three groups; Common, Uncommon, and Rare. The first batch of 850 Common football boots will feature the club’s national and international titles, including the date and the place there initially won.

The second edition will feature 140 uncommon boots and will commemorate the stadium. The club will number the remaining 11 rare boots from 1 to 11, representing the number of footballers who appears at the start of each match.
These NFTs will allow users to enter the draw for an exclusive experience that will include a trip and hotel nights, as well as tickets to see a live match of the team at the Cívitas Metropolitano.

The development team has announced that the NFT collections will launch before the end of this month. Ten percent of the profits from the NFT sales will be donated to the Atlético de Madrid Foundation to support International Schools. While discussing the new crypto integration, Íñigo Aznar, the commercial director of Atlético de Madrid, stated:
“The partnership with WhaleFin will create exciting new opportunities for the club and our fans around the world. Finding new ways to connect with our supporters and communities like STEPN helps us explore the fresh options that Web3 provides every day.”
For his part, Mable Jiang, the Chief Revenue Officer of STEPN, has also expressed his excitement to work with Atletico de Madrid. He stated:

“This partnership with WhaleFin and Atlético de Madrid will offer a unique experience to all fans globally. Through this collaboration, we aim to connect the world of physical activity with the Web3 space by providing tangible rewards in the real world. We are happy to work with such a renowned organization to promote a healthy lifestyle and interaction with its fans.”
