Myntra Android app

A week after the merger of Flipkart and Myntra moves beyond rumours in to reality, Myntra launched its Android app. You can practically do everything you did on the website of the online fashion and lifestyle store, right from browsing through and filtering out what you are looking for, adding it to your favourites, managing your Myntra account to being able to check out through the various payment options. The app released two days ago on Play store, is in the 50K-100K installs range and has garnered an average review of 4.3 from more than 3K users.

With Flipkart’s Android app already out in April, and apps by rivals Jabong and Yebhi also out, it was high time the fashion store pushed out its own app. I installed the Android app to check it out in terms of design, user experience and functionality and was glad to be welcomed by its sleek design and fast load.

Just as the web interface, you login using Facebook or your email address if you’ve registered with it, to get started on the app. Tap on the category listing icon to go to the required category from men, women, kids, brands and sale. The home is a very simple listing with men and women in the tabs, and footwear, clothing and accessories as broad listings.

You can also keep a check on your account through ‘Your Account’ at the bottom (which I think could be rightly renamed as ‘My Account’). Your account gives you a quick snapshot of your orders, wishlist, coupons, cashback and most importantly, your shopping bag.

I tapped my way to Women – Accessories – Bags & Wallets to find a nice mobile pouch. Apart from the ‘Searh’ option, there is a refined search possible by using the sort and filter features. Sorting, as the name suggests, provides options to sort by price, popularity, discount or ‘What’s new’, whereas filter can be applied to browse through a required category, brand, colour or prices & offers.

Once you get to a product, you can see the details with images and other information. If an offer is applicable, you can tap on the ‘offer’ button to know the coupon code to be used on your bag.

If you do wish to buy now, either you can save the item to your wishlist for buying later, or share the link with your friends on Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and email, to get a second opinion.

Finally, there is the ‘Buy now’ button that takes you to the check out. It displays your bag and details of each item in it, click on ‘Place order’ to complete the process. Just as the website, you can pay by cash on delivery, net-banking, or credit and debit cards and you are done with your shopping.

Web to mobile in a mobile-centric world

The Myntra app does bring the ease of online shopping into your hands, no more hassles in battling traffic or crowds, or even waiting to get to your laptop. A smooth, hassle-free, shopping on the go! The fact that all of your shopping including payment can be completed within the app is a great convenience for the user. It might also lead to increased sales as providing a complete online shopping experience to your users might encourage the impulsive shoppers.

Design-wise, it is very simple and offers smooth navigation. Searching for a particular product through filters or checking out the items on sale, the app provides most of what the website does. It has managed to bring the web shopping experience onto mobile in a neat and trendy way.

The timing is also ripe with India among the fastest growing smartphone market in the world. It is also time to give the app a try and let us know your shopping experience on it.
