The famous graffiti artist has produced another fantastic piece titled ‘Modern Love’. The couple are seen embracing whilst looking over each other’s shoulders at their true modern love – the mobile phone.
It was painted on the door of a struggling club in the English city of Bristol which has now taken the piece down and moved it inside to prevent it getting damaged.
A youth worker from the club said “The club is 120 years old and we need £120,000 to keep the club open. There’s a massive wall he [Banksy] could have done it on but he didn’t, so we think he did it to help us raise the money.”
This obsession and love affair we have with our mobiles is one of the reasons why mobile marketing can be so lucrative and rewarding for all businesses around the world.
The mobile phone has changed the way we work, live and play. It goes everywhere we go and leaving home without it can be a disaster.
In fact, 66% of people in the UK suffer from nomophobia, which is a fear of being without a mobile phone. (SecurEnvoy)
The mobile phone is an incredible device – you’re holding the future. What other device can plug you into social media, take photos, watch videos, play music, games, browse the web – and of course let you make a phone call or send and receive text messages. You literally have the world at your fingertips, in a phone that is no bigger than the hand that holds it.
This not only makes it a best friend for life, but a very powerful marketing tool for any business with a desire to connect with its customers.
Think about the following:
- Your customers will have a mobile phone.
- They will open and read text messages.
98% of all texts messages are opened in under 5 seconds. (Frost & Sullivan)
Mobile devices top the list of media for having the greatest impact on our purchasing decisions.
So, if the mobile phone is my new BFF; marketing’s best friend is not even up for discussion.
