To help promote a new line of body mists available in 20 different fragrances, Bath & Body Works has included mobile barcodes in their direct mail ads.
The new line will be available in Bath & Body Works retail stores starting Feb. 6, but the QR codes are meant to promote a special in-store event on Feb. 11 where consumers can test the new fragrances.
The mobile barcodes link directly to Bath & Body Works’ Facebook page, where consumers are asked to ‘like’ the page. The page says “We make fragrance fun – ‘Like’ our page to learn about new products, get exclusive offers & get connected with the world’s best fragrance fans.”
Bryan Laurienti, co-owner and designer at BBB Systems, noted, “The mobile barcodes are a good way for Bath & Body Works to drive both in-store and social media traffic. Embracing mobile technology will help them reach more consumers and keep current customers interested.”
The only thing they could have done better? How about scratch and sniff QR codes that smell like their new fragrances?! I think I’m on to something!
