DraftKings and the PGA Tour have officially opened a first-of-its-kind sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale.
Scottsdale, a city in the eastern part of Maricopa County, Arizona, plays host to the WM Phoenix Open as part of the PGA Tour. The sportsbook was announced open with a grand ribbon cutting ceremony and former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald placing the first bet.
The sportsbook has been nearly eighteen months in the offing, as construction begun back in May 2022. The location spans 13,000 square-feet and featured 32 betting kiosks, 3,400 square-feet of video walls and six ticket windows. There are also countless hospitality options available for visitors and residents.
“It’s an exciting day and we’re thrilled to celebrate the opening of the DraftKings Sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale, a location that showcases the special collaboration between DraftKings and PGA TOUR while featuring a number of customer-centric amenities true to the DraftKings brand,” said Jason Robins, DraftKings’ Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder.
PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan added: “The DraftKings Sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale promises to be a year-round destination where we look forward to delivering unforgettable experiences to our fans. We appreciate the support of DraftKings, the Thunderbirds, the City of Scottsdale and the State of Arizona to help make this vision a reality.”
Arizona online sports betting saw a boost when the state hosted the Super Bowl this year, becoming the first state to have legalized mobile sports wagering when the NFL’s showpiece came to town.
Scottsdale’s flagship tour event has seen world number one, US golfer, Scottie Scheffler win back-to-back tournaments in the last two years.
