Another big step has been taken in gambling industry across America, as FanDuel opens sports betting markets in Washington DC.

This announcement comes from The Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG), as FanDuel release an app/website in Columbia District.
FanDuel was introduced into the state for both residents and visitors, as the sports betting site took the place of GambetDC – through a digital format.
OLG Executive Director, Frank Suarez, has highlighted the decision to have FanDuel in Washington DC will be a positive for residents an increase revenue.
He said: “With FanDuel’s launch, DC residents and visitors will have access to a best-in-class sports wagering platform,
“FanDuel’s entry into our market brings not only a reliable, customer-friendly sports wagering experience to the nation’s capital, but it also includes guaranteed revenue that will be used to fund vital city programs.”
Those residing in the capital can use the FanDuel site/app in cohesion with the geographical limits set by the District.
Certain areas are unavailable due to gambling laws, including federal lands and sites surrounding ‘Class A’ facilities (within a two-block radius).
With FanDuel coming in, this means that GambetDC have stopped betting services on its app and those who are signed up will need to withdraw any money by October 15th.
Physical locations will also come to a close, as the transition is set to continue until the end of this year.
FanDuel work with the Carolina Panthers and this partnership helped to finalized the move into Washington DC’s sports betting sector.
As the betting operator is released into the capital, registered customers are set to receive further support in relation to safer gambling options.
The decision to promote gambling problem prevention is a big part of FanDuel’s ethos and the app is set to include safeguarding protection.
