Delaware Park Casino is expanding again this year, adding 24/7 table games and a brand-new outdoor gaming patio for slot and table games. The casino recently underwent a substantial $10 million update and renovation to transform its dark casino into a bright, Las Vegas-style facility.

More importantly, Delaware Park Casino is New Castle County’s only casino and racetrack. Since gaming establishments are scarce in the region, casino executives believe the 10,000-square-foot patio will make it the largest outdoor gaming space in the First State.

Delaware Park Casino announces the return of 24/7 table games for Nov. 8, the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic

The casino already offers over 1,900 of the most in-demand slot machines in denominations ranging from a penny to $25. Favorite games among guests also include progressive, reel, video slots, and video poker.

Delaware Park Casino officials said it will return to round-the-clock table games on Nov. 8, for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. First-floor slot machines had already returned to 24/7 operation in January. Gambling outside is a plus for smokers as well.

“Post-COVID, one of the things we’ve learned is that people like being outdoors, they like having their space, they like fresh air, and a lot of people are wearing masks,” said Terry Glebocki, Delaware Park Casino’s president.

“This gives an option to people looking for that fresh air experience. Because this patio has so much open air, it’s considered an outdoor space.”

New outdoor gaming patio will be located adjacent to the casino’s racetrack, will open by spring of 2025

Although the Delaware Park patio is enclosed by walls, there’s a six-foot gap between the roof and any enclosures. This means the area is only mostly covered. That may pose a problem for nonsmokers.

Furthermore, the new outdoor gaming patio will be located adjacent to the casino’s racetrack. It will also be constructed by DiSabatino Construction, per Matthew Korfhage of the Delaware News Journal.

The Delaware Park patio will be open by spring of 2025, when guests may prefer to spend time outside. The space will also be heated during the winter months.

Other events planned for the holiday season at the casino include a family-friendly light show out at the horse paddocks.

A holiday craft fair is scheduled every Friday and Saturday night from Black Friday until Christmas.
