Imane Anys found her passion for gaming from an early age. When in middle school, she began playing multiplayer online games like MapleStory and Endless Online, developing the skills that would eventually help her become a millionaire.

For many years, Anys kept her personal life private. She had a long-term relationship which ended recently. In July 2024, Anys shared on YouTube that she broke it off with her long-time boyfriend. Even though she has never confirmed this, the public believed that her boyfriend was Kevin Kim.
Pokimane Net Worth: Becoming Famous on Twitch and YouTube
Imane Anys created her first Twitch account in June of 2013. This was the beginning of her highly successful and oftentimes viral Twitch streams. Even though she embarked on this journey sharing primarily gaming content, she has since expanded her content to include lifestyle updates, guides, and much more. Let’s see how the Twitch streamer earned her fame and fortune.
Twitch Beginnings
Anys began streaming on Twitch a few months after creating her account, using a $250 computer she bought online after she reached Platinum rank in the game League of Legends. She instantly started using the name Pokimane, which is a derivation of Pokemon and her first name, Imane.
Fast forward to 2017 and Pokimane had gained 450,000 followers on the platform, becoming one of the 100 most-followed streamers. That same year, she won Best Twitch Streamer of the Year at the Shorty Awards, mostly thanks to her gameplay and commentary on League of Legends.
Following this success, Anys was invited to make a cameo appearance in a trailer for League of Legends where she announced a new game mode.
Becoming a Twitch Star
On Twitch, Pokimane was most widely recognized for League of Legends, but this wasn’t the only game she streamed. Since she started streaming full-time, Anys has diversified her content by picking different games, including Fortnite. She first started streaming Fortnite as part of a sponsorship deal, but then continued with the game due to the success with her audience.
In 2018, Tim Sweeney’s Epic Games, Fortnite’s developer, arranged a pro-am event at E3, where it paired streamers with celebrities in Battle Royale mode in the game. Initially, Pokimane was paired with rapper Desiigner, but her competitor later changed to basketball player Josh Hart.
Recognizing her success, Twitch started strengthening their relationship with Anys. In July 2018, she was selected as one of Twitch’s 15 ambassadors for the iteration of the TwitchCon event. She was also scheduled as a partner for the Twitch Creator Camp, which was a series of articles/broadcasts designed for new and existing content creators.
By March 2020, Pokimane was ready to sign a multi-year exclusivity contract with Twitch. The details of the contract remain undisclosed. At the time, the content creator had over 3.9 million followers on the platform.
“Since I began my gaming career on Twitch six years ago, the platform has given me such an incredible opportunity to create content and connect with people around the world,” Anys shared in a press release.
In February 2022, Anys signed an extension with Twitch.
Honors and Suspensions from Twitch
In 2021, Forbes named Anys a featured honoree in their 30 Under 30 list in the Games category, mentioning her as the largest female streamer on the platform.
That December, Social Blade listed Anys as the ninth most-followed user on the platform when she had over 8.5 million followers. Today, she is fourteenth with over 9.3 million followers.
However, her fame hasn’t been without controversies. On January 8, 2022, Pokimane’s Twitch account got suspended because she was watcbing Avatar: The Last Airbender on stream and ViacomCBS submitted a DMCA claim. Later that same month, Anys’ stream was raided by viewers of the controversial streamer JiDion. This attracted the attention of the number one Twitch streamer Ninja, who stated that he would use his connections to get the ban reversed.
In 2022, Pokimane imposed a $5 donation cap on her streams on Twitch to dissuade large donations. She did this in collaboration with Streamlabs to make the functionality available to all Twitch creators. Based on this number, Pokimane is earning a monthly income from customer donations of around $25,000.
Pokimane Leaves Twitch
To everyone’s surprise, Pokimane decided to leave the platform where she became famous. With over 9.3 million followers, Anys said goodbye to Twitch after a decade. Explaining her decision, she said that she was “done with Twitch’s messy behavior”, citing several major changes that the platform had made in recent years.
Even though she announced her departure, she has continued to stream on Twitch – so she hasn’t really left, after all.

Anys earns around $4 million a year annually on the platform. However, some sources mention a much lower number.
Recently leaked data puts her earnings closer to the higher estimate. According to a Twitch leak which was reported by The Loadout, she earned $1.5 million between August 2019 and October 2021 alone. She has more followers and is even more famous nowadays, so she is most likely earning more than this year.
On YouTube, Pokimane earns up to $16,500 per month across her various channels.
Political Affiliations
In 2020, Anys collaborated with US representatives Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, both progressive democrats, as well as several other streamers including HasanAbi and Disguised Toast.
