Bally Bet is set to open in Massachusetts during June 2024, after the decision was confirmed in a Gaming Commission meeting.
Bally Bet Set To Open In Massachusetts
The sports betting operator has planned to open in Massachusetts for months on end, after getting an online sports betting operator license in January last year.
Bally Bet brought this idea up at the Massachusetts Gaming Commission meeting, taking another step in finalizing a deal in June.
It will become the seventh online sportsbook available in Massachusetts, joining: DraftKings, ESPN Bet, FanDuel, Fanatics, Caesars and BetMGM.
This comes after WynnBet decided to stop offering its markets and services in the city, making room for Bally Bet to join.
Bally Bet’s chief operating officer, has been vocal about the upcoming entry into Massachusetts and how it will benefit both parties.
He said: “Our commitment is strong here. We’re really excited to be in the state. This is a state with such a rich sports history.”
Jordan Maynard, Massachusetts Gaming Commission’s interim chairman, has also opened up about the partnership and the move could help remove illegal gambling.
He said: “We believe that to stamp out the illegal market and give people the protections that Massachusetts provides, it’s good to have options.”
Massachusetts saw an increase in revenue during the early stages of this year, making $153.1 million in casino/sports betting revenue in February, according to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
The split highlighted a difference between the two gambling formats, as casino betting contributed to $100.5m and sports betting added the other $52.5m.
A report from Encore Boston Harbor revealed that $64.4m was made in revenue from table games and slot machines, as they continue to be popular among gambling enthusiasts.
The two available casinos, MGM Springfield and Plainridge Park Casino generated $22.9m and $13.2m in revenue respectively.
Since the opening of these casinos, the Commonwealth has taken in $1.67bn from taxes and other assessment so far.
