Warner Music Group

The music record label Warner Music Group has inked a multi-year partnership with Polygon-based marketplace LGND Music to launch Music NFTs. Music fans can now purchase and listen live music from famous artists through the platform.

Warner Music Group Launches New Music NFTs

In a December 07 site publication, Warner Music Group, the Web3 music startup, and the Ethereum sidechain network, confirmed its partnership with LGND marketplace to launch new Music NFTs.

Under the new partnership, music artists signed under the Warner Music Group label can seamlessly turn their songs into NFTs. According to the announcements, LGND will not force artists to convert their songs into NFTs. The site explained:

“LGND Music will never force any artist to connect a crypto wallet to explore the platform and will keep all assets safe in their collection. Users who prefer self-custody will have the option to connect their wallets if desired.”

Even though Warner Music has yet to name the list of artists that will unleash NFTs through the LGND platform, Spinnin Records is part of the new deal. The record has produced tracks for famous artists like David Guetta, Tiesto, R3HAB, and Robin Shultz, among others.

The NFT space has attracted several electronic dance musicians in the past few months. The famous artists who recently bought or sold NFTs include Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, 3LAU, and Dillon Francis.

Warner Music Group NFT Push

Warner Music Group has forged several web3 partnerships in the past several months. Earlier this year, the record label inked a partnership with the Sandbox to bring metaverse concepts and events into the music industry.

In February, Warner Music Group partnered with crypto game Splinterlands to develop “arcade-style” games around its artists. It also partnered with top Ethereum NFT marketplace OpenSea to help bring artists into Web3.

While commenting about the new WMG and LGND integration in a statement, Polygon Studios CEO Ryan Wyatt said that he believes Polygon’s partnership is an “exciting milestone for the music industry.”

In the meantime, the new music NFTs are set to launch on the LGND marketplace in January 2023. Crypto and music fans will purchase NFT on LGND’s iOS mobile or desktop apps. NFT purchases will be subject to Apple’s controversial 30% in-app purchase fee.
