Lamborghini has introduced the new Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 SV Roadster at the Monterey Car Week in California. The Roadster was showcased at the well-known event ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’ and is offered in a limited series of 500 units globally. This is the first open-top Lamborghini to carry the Superveloce name. It claims to be the fastest convertible in the world, and we tend to agree.
The car offers greater performance with a power increase of 50 hp to 750 hp and a dry weight of 3,472 lb, which is 110 lbs lighter compared to the Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster. The power-to-weight ratio of just 4.6 lb/hp. The Roadster maintains the coupe’s breathtaking acceleration, sheer power and handling prowess. In an enhancement to the Superveloce coupé experience, the Superveloce Roadster’s features a power rear window that allows the free-flowing engine sound to fill the cabin with snarly raucous noises during spirited driving.
The naturally aspirated, 6.5-liter V12 produces 750 hp at 8,400 rpm and 509 lb-ft of torque. Sadly acceleration is a tenth slower than the hardtop version from 0-6o mph, which is dispatched in happens in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of more than 217 mph. Your hair is likely going to get messed up at much slower speeds.
Lamborghini’s highly innovative 7-speed ISR transmission delivers an incomparably emotional gear shift and transfers the engine’s power to all four wheels through a Haldex Generation IV 4WD system. Of course, as in the SV coupé the car takes advantage of adaptive Magneto Rheological Suspension, a pushrod damping system and Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS) for improved driving dynamics. As with the Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster, the SV Roadster comes with a two-piece hardtop made from carbon fiber featuring technologies such as and Forged Composite®, which deliver a perfect surface finish, allow complex design shapes and the highest possible component stiffness combined with extremely low weight.
The SV body has been fully optimised in the wind tunnel too, including those new quick-release hard-top panels, which weigh less than 6kg each. They’re finished in matte black as standard, but you can spec them in matte carbon fiber, or the car’s body color.
The rear windshield can be lowered or raised by pressing a dash-mounted button. Down is probably going to where it spends most of its time due to the V12 right behing it..
The two roof parts each weigh less than 13.2 lb and can be stowed easily in the luggage compartment. They provide the perfect complement to the monocoque, which is completely made from carbon fiber.
Suspension and interior are the same as the SV Coupe, which means adaptive dampers and direct-steer, full Alcantara inside, one-piece carbon seats, less sound deadening, and a plethora of buttons. You can option it in five colors as standard, or if you are lazy you can use Lamborghini’s customization service, which allows you to do literally anything you want with your very expensive, very rare roadster.
Deliveries of the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Rodster begin in early 2016 with base pricing of 357,000.00 Euros or USD 530,075 MSRP.
