Over the past couple of months, there have been some outstanding marketing announcements in the social media world. This recent news has certainly caused a social media twist and the main reason is the embracing of one particular type of marketing content which is turning tables: I’m talking about video marketing.

Every social network has begun to turn efforts towards the improvement of native video distribution and promotion services, because they know it’s the new big thing! So let’s go through these major social media announcements that prove the weight of this new marketing trend. Read on and learn how to use them in your 2015 campaign:

1. Facebook and Instagram

The largest social network has been teasing us with native video promotion for a while, but a few months ago, things got real: During Facebook‘s third-quarter earnings, Mark Zuckerberg himself announced that Facebook will turn efforts towards video marketing thisyear.

Most of the content on Facebook is content that people are sharing with their friends and the people around them,” Zuckerberg said. “Videos fit very well into the newsfeed form factor that people consume on Facebook. I think we’re going to see a lot of user-generated and public-content videos over the next few years (…) If you go back five years, most of the content was text. Now a lot of it is photos and if you look in the future a lot of the content that people share will be video. It’s just very compelling.”

Zuckerberg’s latest statement is great news for companies which have already incorporated video marketing in their social media campaigns and brands which had been skeptical in doing so. One of the trendiest pieces of content that most online companies are embracing in this scenario are the so-called animated marketing videos, short and engaging tools that work great on any social media channel:

Meanwhile, Instagram (Facebook’s mobile photo and video sharing social network) has just announced its own video ads service for your 15-second videos, offering some basic analytics tools which aim to avoid “spammy feeds”.

2. Twitter and Vine

The popular microblogging site won’t approach 2015 social media empty-handed either: Twitter has recently launched a beta version of their Promoted Video Ads service, taking a huge marketing step to encourage marketers into focusing on online video promotion.

Twitter is the 2nd largest social network in the world and has a sharing rate of 2,000 tweets including video links per minute. The thing is that they hadn’t included native video until now: Promoted Video Ads allow video promotion on Twitter for the first time ever, offering great video analytics through a pay-per-click system.

Vine (Twitter’s micro-video service) is also experimenting with 6-second promoted video ads, a brand-new service that is already receiving great reviews on its branding results. Looks like Twitter and its micro-video network are going full into video marketing next year, so get your videos ready!

3. YouTube

It all seemed like Google wasn’t going to reveal any news regarding YouTube marketing this year; but a few days ago, the world’s #1 search engine owner announced that it has just enhanced its Video AdWords to optimize video ad performances on YouTube, the video hosting service which is actually the 3rd largest social network on the Internet, behind Facebook and Twitter.

The new ads update will allow video marketers to gather and handle their video analytics data within YouTube, instead of toggling back and forth between Google AdWords and YouTube in order to test their videos’ overall performance.

Social media is heading towards video marketing alright! Now, in order to take advantage of  this news in your social campaigns, here are the most popular types of video content to use to help promote your business:
